HI,
I'm wondering if there is a difference in the strength of a laser in a CD burner and a DVD burner.
what are the risks of a laser as strong as say the DVD burner?
what kind of safety glasses should I wear?
any safety pointers?
If there is please if you know how much post it with your answer,
thanks.

DVD is stronger. You should get safety goggles for blocking 650nm wavelength, as that is the most common for red diodes. The goggles for use with the WL Pulsar will work for DVD burner laser diodes. _________________ Lasers are like potato chips - you can't have just one!
Nexus 95mw, Confirmed 173 mw Pulsar, , 131mw argon-ion laser, Core laser, and Signature Fusion 125mw, 100mw blue - average output 131mw - lab laser, and a 20 WATT (yeah you read that right!) CO2 laser!:

I think you've got this wrong, both MAY be the same power, the CD burner is IR, the DVD is 650nm
You'll want the DVD burner. Also, the faster the burner, the stronger the diode. _________________
