| If you can find laser safty goggles or glasses, they will work much better then sun glasses. |

Buy the "laser proof" glasses that are also in stock at the wicked lasers site.
they work terribly well at blocking greenie beams _________________ What ever happened to the old forum?

a headache is a sign of Retina burns, just in case you thought it isnt serious. Dont look at the dot when shining on white or reflective surfaces. |

Well said, don't look at the dot, and if you buy a laser you can get the goggles at a 69.99$ promotional price, if you do a search for 532nm green laser goggles online, I'm sure you wont find anything close to that price.
Best Regards |

If you intend to use a portable laser 'device' (remember that these are not 'pointers'...and the Wicked lasers are a much more powerful class altogether)... it's rather easy to forget just how intense they can be. Anything over <7mW should be shown a healthy amount of respect when it comes to accidental exposure to the eyes. Anything over <20mW is in the zone that makes me want to protect my eyes from closeup reflections.
I just ordered a Nexus (<95mW) 48 hours ago and the very first thing I did was add some of the 532nm safety glasses to my order. The prices were excellent (IMO) and I'll feel a little better when I set up my next laser experiments. My existing glasses are for different wavelengths of laser light so I really needed to get a 532nm pair anyway. I can recall the sensation of stray beams from a <5mW green pointer directed into a crystal a couple of years ago (which bounced back out into my eyes) and I'm not about to repeat the experience with something as powerful as a Nexus Model without sensible precautions this time. I'd suggest (especially if this is your first laser) getting at least one pair of the laser safety glasses (532nm). Particularly if you're getting one of the stronger models. For me at least it's good peace of mind although it keeps my wife from worrying as well. _________________ Regards,

| One question: is it possible to use an 80mW laser without glasses if pointing it in the sky or looking at the dot on a black (not white) target? |

If you're using it for starpointing for example all lasers are very safe
if they're pointing skyward and not at people (think of Concerts and rave parties)
Avoid shiny materials like marble and PVC. Should be quite safe in this respect. |

I can almost guarrentee retinal damage from anything half this powerful. This is exactly the sort of irresponsible use that is going to get high powered lasers regulated. You would likely be terminally blinded by this sort of behaviour. <7mW is considered quite dangerous.
When anyone asks to use one of my lasers, I tell them that it would be unlawful for them to do so (even if that's not necessarily the case). They usually understand. But even a reflection from a laser above 7-10mw is going to be risky, let alone something higher. Don't do this! I'll be VERY surprised if their eyes are unharmed and even more amazed if you don't get sued for negligent use of a restricted device. |

| i agree with nero.... you are the type of person that would prove the point that its illegal to have a laser pointer over >5mW and i do the same exact thing; i just tell them its illegal for me to even own it so to let someone else use it would put them at legal risk. and they never want to take that chance. |
