after several trips to this thread, home depot, and lowes, i finally found them. theyre in the hardware section of the store, in the drawers, under the category "screw protectors." at home depot, they were "1/2" however, at lowe's they were "fit 1/2" screws" lowe's were not the correct size! additionally, you do not want the chair/furniture tips, the plastic/rubber is much too hard.

happy hunting, hope yours is easier than mine was

Hmm... if they fit perfectly around the the end of the laser, taking it off and putting it on creates great amount of air pressure, so all the pressure goes to the lens and each time it does, the lens get weaker, am I right or wrong?

Because it's like the ear, if you make your hand into a cup shape, hold it next to your ear and tap it very hard, your dream drum rips because of the huge force (even though you don't feel the air, but you do feel the pain).

You are right FuSion but I'm not sure about how damaging this could actually be. However putting in a very tiny hole at the top should prevent the whole suction thing. I personally just keep it in the dragon case whenever it's not in use and that seems to work just fine. Smile

The lens is not going to be affected in the slightest! It's the smallest amount of pressure, it couldn't even tear crate paper!

Yea it took my like a half hour to actually find them because I didn't know what they were called, so I was looking for the dowl end caps and finally stumbled on the screw protectors and picked up a few.

I think it would, if you need double protection. Wink

These work great. I tried it on my leadlight and it works awesome. I actually dropped it RIGHT after I put it on and it saved it i think haha. Thanks for the great idea.

Hmm, I might have to go pick some of those up. Great idea Very Happy

Another use for them could be a focusing lens. just cut a hole in the top and put a lens snuggly into it. Thats if you have a lens that will fit. But at least it will stay put easily, for my focusing lens contraption I have to use an O-ring to make it stick..and that doesn't usually always work and is a pain.

blacken the inside of the cap, and try to burn a hole, then you see the imperfections of your laser... =/
