Hey guys, heres a little more info about the rubber cap idea I came up with. I tried using the laser with the cap on the end, but it seems that the rubber/urethane is thick enough that nothing happens. So, there's no need to worry about it burning through.

I have also found that the fit of the cap is snug enough so that if you ever took the laser into a really humid environment, you could put the cap on beforehand and keep any moisture from entering the lens/diode assembly. Obviously you coulden't open the battery compartment, but as long as you keep it sealed up, it should be ok. Then again, a platic ziplock baggie would probably work for this too... Wink

Im currently developing a holster style case for my 2 wicked lasers, that is made from ballistics nylon with a soft polar fleece liner that keeps the lasers nice and snug, and protects them from shock. I also might insert a placitc shell to protect the laser from bending just incase you put something heavy on it, or sit on it.

I unfortunately threw away the package, but all you need to do is measure the outer diameter of the laser with a ruler. Im going to try another hardware store and see if they have any.

I've got a flashlight holster that came with my little colimilated LED light.... wonderful little thing.... I've got to find a good VERY sensitive/well working slide resistor for adjusting the lens on my focusing lens I got of my CDrom laser... any stores like radio shack that would have something like that? and if so, what am I looking for?

That is an excellent way to protect your lasers! I'll be sure to pick some up the next time I visit the hardware store. Very Happy

So, does anyone know what hardware stores carries these, perhaps one online?

Also, does anyone know what these caps are officially called?

Ive searched for them, but came up with nothing (using froogle, yahoo shopping, etc.)

Ok, I went to home depot in hopes of finding those caps for my new Phoenix, which let me tell you asking an employee of home depot for these things was like asking for the location of the holy grail. Turns out that they only have 1/2 which the Phoenix requires 3/4 to fit on correctly. So after leaving the depot, I went to Lowes and they only had the same thing, so as of right now, no lens cap. Although I did buy the cigar caddy from otterbox which works perfect.

I think I found some online!

http://www.surplussales.com/Rubber-Plastic/Plastic-1.html

They're black, so if the button is held down I'm thinking they might could melt, so be careful!

EDIT: aww, "Minimum Order:
To place an order, the subtotal must be a minimum of: $ 10.00"

If anybody wants to order 25 caps this is the deal for you Razz
