every time im borde or messing around with my laser i thinck about the spyder but 1,600 is it really worth it i mean it would bee frekin alsome to have the second strongest laser wickedlasers sells free batterys glasses the glasses i am useing now are red laser enhansment glasses so that would be great it is also water proof and has a slitly better devergice then the exec.s it also has a constent on and a 100% duty cycel any thoughts:

is it relly water proof?

is there any thing eles like it?

why do they say 200-300mw?

what are the chances of geting that 300mw?

should i have a case of some sort to carry it around in my pocket?

does it have a monotary on/off switch like a surefire when you have to turn it to use constent one or what

sorry it is so much to ask but i dont know any other way to get the questions answered that i want to get ansered

if you want a waterproof laser the spyder's about it, but you'd be better off finding a good spyder 1.

if you just want a nice high powered handheld lasers, there's better lasers out there for half the price.

Supposed to be waterproof but I won't risk trying it with mine. At least one Spyder II owner has reported a small leak aftrer putting it under water, but maybe he didn't screw the cap on tight?

is there any thing eles like it?

Not exactly like it, no.

why do they say 200-300mw?

Don't know why but some are better than others. I had to send my first one back. The replacement is around 200 mw which is OK for me but a little disappointing.

what are the chances of geting that 300mw?

No idea but you might be lucky

should i have a case of some sort to carry it around in my pocket?

I carry it around in my pocket but I'm very careful with it. You need to keep the front lens clean and scratch free to avoid light scatter.

does it have a monotary on/off switch like a surefire when you have to turn it to use constent one or what

Switch is push on/ push off. Momentary operation is possible with a quick gentle tap on the switch.

I think it's a very expensive toy, but it is very nice despite not being quite up to the power I expected. I'm retired with plenty of money and I didn't tell my wife how much t cost Twisted Evil . If I was young and didn't have much money I would lust after it but would NOT buy it.

The Spyder II is very well made and it is certainly sealed since several users have placed theirs underwater to show this feature.

The advantage for laserists is that the unit is sealed against other elements like moisture & dust etc. You still need to show caution with the outer aperture window which has a sort of anti-glare coating which can be scratched if you're not careful... but it's easier to keep clean overall. The lens area is sealed with some type of silicone based filler and the rear section where the battery compartment is situated contains a thick O-ring which is replaceable and should be smeared with silicone grease prior to underwater immersion.

This is not a laser that you would want to throw around or let your car keys scrape up against. It is certainly a luxury item though and is suited to professional and semi-pro use in the Lab or even in rescue and signaling applications. The beams on the Exec series are finer though and the Execs like the Fusion and the Nexus are strong enough to offer a similar beam and dot to the Spyder whilst delivering visibly less power.

The picture below shows a Spyder II being used alongside an Exec series laser. The Spyder has a thicker beam but a similar dot which to the eyes appears slightly brighter due to the extra power.

At 200mW+ this is waaay more than a mere "pointer". Sorry but it's a thing thats always bugged me Laughing

Well from most of the posts here lately regarding the Spyder 2, it would appear that most are even failing to reach 200mW and at $1700 a throw, that is a lot of letdown.
