INFINITI 95mW REVIEW FROM TECHLASERS
So a CNI... really a lot of company sells CNIs, but techlasers sells it at a very appealing price! That's why I bought it in the first place...
The shipping
The shipping was fast, very fast. I ordered it on Monday and received it on Friday. I received the laser in the old hard cardboard box (the one who ordered from them in October will know it), which I very much like because it looks earth and ecologically friendly.
The design:
This is a piece of art, beautifully camouflaged as a black and gold fountain pen, and the polished alloy around the laser reflects the sunshine like my PSP . The pen clip is very useful, as it will avoid the laser from falling from a table (that unfortunately happened with my pulsar). The rubber button is very easy to find if you are in the dark as well as the pen clip that will let you know where the front/back is. The aperture cap is handy as well because it can be unscrewed if you need to clean the lens. Something that is also good is that the aperture cap and the battery cap are interchangeable so you can do that for security measures, if you have kids at home etc.
The performance:
At first I used fully charged batteries that weren’t used for at least two months when I broke accidentally my 5mW 532nm ledlight. I first thought that my CNI was underpowered but no, in fact it was the batteries that discharged during the last month. Techlasers kindly proposed to help (we like that), but before I discovered it was a battery problem, once I bought lithium batteries that cost 12€. Once I discovered that, I was really amazed as it lit un-blackened matches in three to five seconds unaided, and could lit instantly blackened matches with a focusing lens. It could also pop dark colored balloons very quickly. Cutting black electrical tape seems hard but I think mine is too thick! Though when focused, it can cut through it decently. The pump diode drains a lot of current so the batteries will, at best give five to ten minutes of max performance.
The beam spec is 2.35mRad of divergence with 1.2mm @ aperture. Thankfully, the divergence does not affect too much the close up burning abilities. The beam spec is like that probably because I let my laser fall several times.
The laser shades:
They protect extremely well from the green light, but give no protections to red lasers, unlike the red laser shades (blue tinted) that protects slightly from the green. It absorbs so well the green that if the laser is shown towards them they will start to punch through them, so even with the glasses, you should avoid looking directly in the aperture. It does however, protect very well from specular and indirect reflection.
Conclusion:
A great laser, good also for beginners for its reasonable price tag. It has decent burning abilities, thanks to its smaller beam diameter at aperture than the executive series, although both of them will have the same power if focused at the same size. This is a laser not to be used without eye safety equipment as it will burn a hole in your retinas if directly exposed.
My rating
The price: 5/5 (bought it when they had the 20% off , but the shipping cost represent 10% of the total cost )
The overall performance: 4.5/5 (order the 125mW not the 95mW you will want more power)
the output power : 5/5 (as advertised)
The design: 5/5 (neat)
The company: 5/5 (friendly) _________________ Always look on the bright side of lasers... WAIT DONT !
