I think a market place in this forum will be very bad, as this forum has probably more kids than adults.
Also, there would be no way to solve any scams, like no disputes, etc...
Best thing the forum could do is to ban an account if they scam.
Unless this forum is willing to pay for trusted middlemen.

This may not be the best way, but someone could sell their laser to LC, and someone can buy a used laser from LC. This way all the used lasers are made sure that they work. The problem would be that people would be selling to LC for less than they could directly, opposite for buyers. But LC is making a profit, so that will help improve the forum!

That would be like a mass number of people selling lasers to you and you have to check each and every one of them, then sell them at the same time, and you would also have to solve disputes, being scammed yourself, shipping damages, etc...
That would be worse than having a "ebay" on /laser Community.

Here's something that might not be added right away, but sounds cool to me. I suggest an addition to the "Projects" page, where members could put together homemade lasers of any wavelength and see who can get the best overall laser. Every time someone creates a more powerful laser, they would make a thread about it, including pictures and/or videos of it in action. If accepted by the judge/judges, then it would be featured on the homepage until someone else makes one that's better!

I know I'm just brainstorming, but that's what this thread is for, right?

I read the more professional crowd might be a target. Now, the laser section is divided by color, red, green, blue and the rest. Maybe it could be divided like diode lasers, DPSS, gas lasers, dye lasers, pulsed lasers, (pointers) things like that. And a section about lasers physics.

A good example for the site setup is bit-tech.net. The site's forum is very well known, but I like the structure of all the acticles. On LC we could write the articles ourself, things about laser physics, DIY projects, safety, things like that. Just a section articles, the current project section isn't really filled or divided in a few sections.
The problem is, now a lot of DIY projects and information is scattered around the forum, an article section could collect that in one place. People trying to make a laser out of a DVD drive would just have to look up an article of somebody describing the complete process instead of reading 100+posts and topics to find the information, buried beneath reactions and just end products.
I'd be willing to write articles Smile

So? Even if he says he is or is not I don't care.

I actually like it that it is run a bit by WL. That just means that we have cool give-aways (spyder III)

Well- I have to admit this forum has declined a bit since "the purge" as I unaffectionately call it. But hopefully the new LC will do much to fix that.

I agree, LC has gone down, but I'm sure the new LC 2.0 will be awesome. All we have to do now is wait...

I wonder how long it will they them to get everything together, it sounds like a project that will take months, if not years! Shocked

Well I'm hoping they often update LC so that we can slowly see how its improving. Or- It will just stay like this for months, untill one day without warning the new LC is here.

The problem with LC is deception.

^^ This person seems to have a personal issue with LC. Ford and Chevy both claim to be number one, so according to that, one is deceptive and using marketing tools for which he can gripe about.

Get a life and get over it!
