A broadband continuous spectrum laser, from... Denmark???
A true white laser!
Choose your color(s) - anything from 460nm blue to IR, and this beast will make it. Or just let it make the rainbow. Comes with an "integrated controller" and computer interface. I don't even wanna THINK about what it costs!
Most of its' capability is in the IR range, but what a range for one laser to cover!
"The Koheras SuperK™ Extreme is a quasi CW single mode super continuum light source with excellent power density. It is a complete stand-alone unit with integrated controller and computer interface for easy and stable operation. In combination with a tuning filter, the SuperK™ Extreme can emit up to eight tunable lines simultaneously."

PDF spec sheet:

They have a "red" and a "blue" broadband version of this too, to better cover the visual spectrum, but I couldn't find data on those. _________________ \"Man, that thing is WAY too bright!!\" \"Yeah...and your point is...?\" |

Does that mean you can have any visible color with that? |

Every color from 460nm all the way into the infrared.
And all at the same time if you want. There's a spectral chart at the PDF link that shows what the output is. _________________ \"Man, that thing is WAY too bright!!\" \"Yeah...and your point is...?\" |

As long as this laser can create red, yellow, and green simultaneously, I'm happy. _________________

I've dreamed about a laser like that.
Imagine watching it slowly morph from blue to green to red. I get the chills just thinking about it! _________________

New desktop wallpaper?
Here's a pic of a similar fiber laser - my "dream laser" IS real! I got this pic from a gallery at Photon Lexicon. I believe this version is pulsed, not CW. Still, it makes me drool - just a little.
I hope these become a PRACTICAL reality in CW soon!! _________________ \"Man, that thing is WAY too bright!!\" \"Yeah...and your point is...?\" |

wow thats awesome , too bad its only putting out less than 6 mW. Now one of these lasers would be awesome to own - http://www.mellesgriot.com/pdf/catalogx/x_38_4-5.pdf the 35 LAP 431 and 35 KAP 431 especially. Tunable wavelength (though not as much) and nice power to boot. |

I don't know where you got the 6mW figure, the Koheras SuperK laser that I refer to in the first post makes 700mW in the visible. It's total power including the much wider infrared range, is 6W.
Yeah, it would be awesome! _________________ \"Man, that thing is WAY too bright!!\" \"Yeah...and your point is...?\"

There isn't much about how the laser itself is constructed other than it is a fiber laser - they are using a doped glass fiber that is pumped by an infrared femtosecond pulsed YAG laser.
Here is a link to another manufacturer of this type in a similar package and power range. There is a great picture of it linked there, but it opens in a Flash window and I cannot save it to post it here.

RS500(E) lab laser. Variable focus, variable stabilised power from <0.5mw to 500mw +/- 5mw over 4 hours !
150mW Lab-Laser.
SUB 100mW Fusion (it actually peaked at 138mW - average 90mW) !!!

100mw focussable Pulsar.
5mw Atlasnova 635nm, only 2.4mw. Mis-shaped spot, lots of spray. Worst laser I ever had.
800uW red diode and a couple of HeNe lasers with PSU issues.

Thanks, Roadrunner!
I've never used the PrintScreen key, ever, in my whole life. I learn something every day. Now if I could just remember....!
That first pic is the one I wanted to save. Serious drool factor. _________________ \"Man, that thing is WAY too bright!!\" \"Yeah...and your point is...?\" |
