| I got my pulsar today and was attempting to focus mod it. After i took the end cap off though the laser immediately went down to what i could only guess as being 1 1000th its actual power and this was without touching the focus. What could I have done to break it and is there any chance of repair? Any help would be appreciated as clearly I am a complete n00b. |

That don't sound good Crash....typically with the red diodes, if it is just giving a faint red spot real close up....there's a good chance it's dead. _________________ Best Regards Chargerman

I hate to hear it, but I am thinking that you may have inadvertantly rotated the entire switch/circuit board assembly while trying to remove the cap, which could be causing the board to be shorted to the case. This is just a guess, as I do not have a Pulsar and am not familiar with the case design.
C'mon guys...help Crash out! Any other suggestions for him? Haven't ya'll seen the movie? He got BUSY with Angelina Jolie! LOL! _________________

uhm... perhaps you could take it apart (now that the warranty is void anywho) ?
That would show a good deal more...
The entire assembly should be pretty easy to remove... _________________

Did you have the laser activated while unscrewing the aperture cap? Or did it went dim right when you activated it after taking the aperture cap off? I also guess there might be a shortcut inside the driver baord like RAZRLAZR guessed. Another option could be the switch. I had similar problems with my unit. It went dim after a few weeks of using, but it was luckily only the switch. If however you really killed the diode you could still replace it with another one. Or maybe send it back to WL and ask for repair or a spare diode? |
