Hi, i've performed a test which left me a bit surprised... i've a 1991 dated red laser pointer <5mW Wavelength 660-680nm. I don't know what is the current consumption, but using 2 new NiMh Sanyo 900mAh batteries, and keeping the laser powered continuously, the brightness of the dot extinguishes after only 1hour... It continues very feeble for another hour but its power is pratically zero. This means that its consumption is of 500-600mA... so strange!! I'd expected to see the laser to work for at least 3-5 hours... Have you an idea of this happening? Maybe that 14 years ago laser efficiency was so bad so as thei consumption was high...??
