ok, still, Topdj-com, what the hell are you getting at??? You had bad luck on ebay bestestest I can tell and that is not suprising. Then again, there are great vendors there that offer great products and service. For the greens and reds in a pen style OEM format MOST of us strongly recommend Wicked for the supplier and for good reason. Wicked is not a "fly-by-night" operation that dissapears shortly after placing an order. And, and, you have the support of fellow laser members to assist you here if and when you encounter issues or have any problems. You will not get that from ebay.
There are some kids (intelect, not age) and bad attitudes here at times but generally your questions will receive a true answer eventually.
Regardless of who you purchase from, I am biased and tech questions and responses are non-biased.
My customers know me for being up-front and honest with them and getting the job done in the end. Seems that Wicked and myself share that same goal.
Hope the return works out and get yourself a good laser in the end. Do not let yourself get screwed my friend. Get it taken care of.

follow up I recieved my refund from paypal , they read this thread
so I got my 80.00 back. However I do not want to give the ebayer a NEG because he will do the same to me its called hostage of feedback |
[off-topic rant]
Hostage of feedback is ridiculous. If payment is receieved promptly, the seller should leave positive feedback; not "I'm going to wait and see if the buyer leaves me negative feedback because my merchandise is sh!tty."
I rarely sell on eBay, but when I do, I'm confident that the items I sell will not warrant negative feedback. So I leave positive feedback for payment received, especially if payment is received very fast. I know that [in due time] I will receive postitive feedback in return. It's a shame that so many sellers have this "tit for tat" mentality.

I agree Mathyou, heh, to add to your rant.
Out of my 55 + feedback on ebay, only about 3-4 sellers had left it right after I payed, all the rest waited til I left feedback first.
And with about 10 of them I had to remind to leave me feedback because they were too slack, or busy granted, but it's still not on. ATM two guys are not leaving me feedback after I left them positive like a month ago and all they did was get my money and ship out the item! I left 2 messages already.
It's not like the end of the world, ebay is the only place I know that has any feedback scores, but if I spend money already I would like to have as high feedback score as possible.
Anyway, I'm not too happy with ebay lately. There just seems to be stuff all good customer service, and plenty of rip-offs / misleading ads. _________________ (From bottom/left): WL CNI Nexus 95mW; WL Exec. 35mW (freak 100mW output!!); WL chrome Classic 35mW; WL Core 5mW; WL Pulsar 125mW; AtlasNova 5mW 635nm.

i have an ebay feedback rating of 277, but if everyone left me feedback, it would probably be around 500+
at this point, i don't care, just as long as they don't leave a negative _________________ wicked classic 35mw in cni case

It wasn't late but a long day when I posted that. No offense meant and old hands here can tell you that I do get a bit rude at times and it is not intentional. I'm here to help as many of the rest are as well. It's a laser community here and we all have preferences for vendors and you know where my stance is for the portable pen style units.
Now that you have the funds returned you can direct them toward a 55-75mw green and I think you will be quite content.
I personally love the Fusion (after modification) and the Pulsar (after repair) and they both are always with me in the shirt pocket. I do not carry an Otter case and all that crap, I use the lasers and they are consumable items. If it fails I will get a new one, no big deal. I truely do use them out on jobs and around the shop. I deal with the multi-kilowatt systems and the pens are great for inspecting optics for contamination and defects and marking debris of silicon wafers. Each to their own and you can find a ton of other uses.
Ebay is fine when purchasing replacement components and industrial grade items. Not high powered pen style lasers. Far too many cartoon characters out there trying to rip you off. There are some respectible members here that sometimes trade there and many of those guys I would trust and have delt with in the past. That Spymodex or whatever I would sure steer clear of. Again, get a 55-75mw from Wicked and if there is any issues then they will make it right.
As mentioned before, there are many of us here all day and night to assist with any questions you may have.

Again, I come with a slightly controversial post. Mods, please inform me if I'm out of line here, don't lay down the banhammer like some other forums I've been on. Also, this is well worth reading if I do say so myself. =P
There are definitely reputable companies out there that will give you a good laser for a lower price.
First off, Spymodex is the home of the original scam laser. They are pieces of junk. That, I admit wholly. Stay away, for god's sake. eBay is usually a steer clear zone as well, but there are a few things that should be ok.
-DIY reds and blu-rays (some people can be pretty good with their hands you know)
-Gas lasers (HeNe's, Ar's, KrAr's, CO2's, whatever)
STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM GREEN PENS ON EBAY.
If someone claims to be selling a 350mW red in a small package, steer clear. The open-can red diode can handle 350mW - pulsed, and well-heatsinked (so essentially it's on a continuous duty cycle) I doubt it is either. The SLD1332V diode is not commercially available for your average guy at the moment... it's a 9mm 500mW red diode which will cost quite a lot.
The rest of companies mostly resell Leadlights (good!) and resell CNI pens and portables (now, don't jump at this, Wicked is based in China, remember, and if I remember correctly used to resell CNI units as well)
Remember, it's not just about the laser it's also the QC and marketing. If you buy a "100mW" laser from your wholesaler, and it turns out it peaks at 110 then drops to 75, which do you market it as? A good company would market it as a 75mW. A bad one would market it as a 110mW. The higher-marked one would go for more money and you'd make more money in the short-term - but what if you sell to a person with a good thermal sensor and meter? You get a bad reputation and your sales go down down down...
There are also small businesses selling modded or DIY'ed lasers usually built out of MXDL 5W's, Dorcy Juniors, and Mini MagLites. These are usually pretty cheap and are usually 660nm or 405nm (dim red and violet) Both are pretty dim wavelengths (especially the violet) |
