A laser power meter? Try Coherent. Expect to pay couple hundred dollars for an amateur level power meter.

Yep Coherent has a Lasercheck power meter for $300. That's the unit I use as well...and is very accurate up to 1 watt or so (I believe).

Yes it's up to 1W. I believe it's what Wicked Lasers use as well. It's a great deal compared to prices of other laser power meters.

You might also keep an eye on e-bay as well, you will have to be a little patient though. Wink Cheers Dale

Athoul, do you have a source where it can be found for $300 ?

All the places I've looked, it's been more like $400.

Erling

You can get it for $320 from Coherent's own site:

...even if i confess it sounds a bit strange to me... Anyway: this is what the auction says. It'd be also strange a German man not to be precise Wink
Anyway2, looking for that model spec on internet, i didn't find that functionality, and the middle plug seems a normal plug...

Is this the auction you're talking about? My german is pretty poor but I think it says it measures between 1mW and 200mW. Which is still ok for the laser devices most people might be buying but if you were to measure your 230mW on this, you might damage the sensor. In any case it's a good deal for a power meter, great find!

Hmm is this basically a multi meter with an LED test built in? or is it more precise like a lasercheck meter?

Yes Xero, it's that auction. Anyway i've some doubts about its real functionality. You can see the model number and if you make a search on Google, all related links don't talk about a laser power meter capability, neither on the specs... so... pay attention if you want to bid...
Regards

Hmm I also notice it is set to the Vm, meaning that it is reading voltage. Also in the second image at the bottom...it doesn't look like the laser is even turned on?

Here are some links that I have found for the model number on the meter in the picture, in case anyone would like to do their own research. Note that they go for $8 US and the auction price is already at over $30 US.

http://cableorganizer.com/triplett/digital-multimeter/digital-multimet er-m830b.htm

Also I tried to look up the TYP LPM 10 mentioned at the top of the auction. I was unable to find any refrence to this anywhere, but did find a reference to a LPM-12 laser power meter by a german laser company. There was no other information on this, however I included the link below. It mentions this meter at the very bottom of the document under related products, however on their web site I can not find any reference to laser power meters? Check it out and maybe you will have better luck.

Lol yeah... and I reckon that in the first picture, the green laser thing looks very "added later", no?

I think some poor guy just spent €40.50 on an experience of getting ripped off Sad

Well normally there are 3 jacks along that side for plugs to be inserted. Either the laser is shining into an empty jack..just maybe they rigged up a green led there in order to perform the LED test for green lasers. Still looks very iffy, looks like 40 bucks down the tubes that coud have been put towards a lasercheck meter.

Sorry I ment $320 from coherents own site... just rounded it to $300.
