I have been reading the posts here about lithiums terminating the Pulsar diode. My question to you all is, do rechargable batteries @ 1.2v (2.4v total) bring the Pulsars output below 100mW's? I know from the topics that alkalines work fine in this laser, I have a Pulsar on order and I will not put lithiums in it. I am glad I found this out ahead of time because that is exactly what I was going to do. Please tell me what your output tests were using the rechargable batteries VS the alkalines. Thanks

-Todd

Voltage plays a big role, your output will be lower with 1.2V NiMH batteries then it will be with the Alkalines. You can expect something up to perhaps a 20mW or so difference. Visually this will probably not be that noticable if at all. It will probably effect the distance you will be able to pop balloons from though, if that is something you will be doing.

I use rechargeables in my pulsar and it runs just fine.

Okay, so is there any noticeble difference in the spot/beam when comparing the two types of batteries? I figure since the recargeables do not deliver as much power as the alkalines do, then maybe the diode will last longer? Thanks for the reply.

Hmmm, something to consider then. Thanks for the info. So do you have this laser also or are you just guessing what the difference would be? Either way I thank you for your reply.

I have a Pulsar and can see the difference on a laser meter. The results will vary from laser to laser, though with NiMH you will get less output then with 1.5V Alkalines.

Have a look for batteries called PURE ENERGY ENVIROCHARGE they are eco friendly rechargerble batteries. Instead of being 1.2 volts these are 1.5 volt rechargers and also last longer than most rechargers too. Not only that they don't suffer from recorded battery memory either Idea
