mine reads <105mW
i hear people saying that they are getting 200mW for the first 20 seconds after it is turned on from their 90mW's are those stickers labeled <90mW also?
do WL sell lasers that use the > (greater than) for power to ensure that the power is accurate and that the laser stabalizes above or at the rated power?? |

All lasers have a < (less then) sign when stating their output.
The initial burst happenes in all DPSS lasers, from the small modules to the large lab models. Normally the high output doesn't last 20 seconds, it lasts for less then 1 second at the most, unless it's a freak model such as one of the models I seem to have(in this case however it doesn't drop down but stays up around 180 mW) I have now tested it for about 1 miniute (it propably stays up there even indefinatly, but due to the risk of overheating I havent checked).
Wicked does gaurantee that the output will be at least the stated power. However since most models are tested for a 30 second or 1 minute run ( I think), the power level that they run most constantly at over this time is what is used to determine the mW range. For example, a 90mW model would average no less then 90mW during a 30 second run(or more depending on the length of time they use). At startup it could jump to 200mW for 1 second then as the crystals adjust it could drop to around 90-93mW where it stays pretty constant at for 90% or so of the time used to test(the range could be a bit greater though like 88-93mW not sure). Since this is below 95mW, Wicked would most likely rate this unit <90mW. Same rule applies to all models, there are always exceptions... I heard maybe 1 in 60 are freak models that end up outputting far more and remain there, also there are those freak models that put out far less..but they usually get replaced with no problem...unless you were the cause by dropping it or something.
However you should note that it is only that Wicked has taken it upon themselves to assure that the minimum power is what is rated on the FDA sticker. At most other stores that same example above would be for a <95mW unit and not a <90. One of the many reasons I like Wickeds products. _________________ Cheers,

| It might have been explained already but let me ask you this: Why do these DPSS lasers do that up to 200mW for the first 1-2 seconds? |
