| ok i have been checkign out what wicked lasers has to offer, and im liking it. Here is my dilema tho. i want a laser for expirements and such, but also to shine it at night, ive heard that the 65mw laser is nice but from the sound of it it looks dangerous if accidentally reflected into somones eyes. wickeds highest laser is a 10mw, iv heard that a 30mw has a hug difference in how you can see the beam and just overall power. i mean who wants to have a lightsaber ONLY in the fog and rain, NOT ME. SO can yall give me anywhere that is reputable where i can ind 20 or 30mw lasers. i know laser glow has them but im not sure they offer the same amazing shipping policies that wicked has. i mean i have no problem with buying a 65mw, its just i think if i get it i might be limited to how i can use it since ive heard its not smart to use in public and such. not that i would shine it at people planess cars etc. but still on the off chance it reflected off something and hit someone, i might be in some trouble. SO cna yall help me find a good laser, one that is visible at night and day, without fog. |

Yes, the 65mW should not be used if you are afraid of the beam reflecting into someone eyes. However, a 30mW should not even be used for that (while the 30mW is a lot more safer, it can still do serious harm).
If you need/want to be waving a laser around without thinking about what it hits, you should go for the 5mW.
If you know that you could at least avoid hitting someone directly in their eyes, go for the 10mW.
If you want a light saber, go for advanced or higher, bundled with the careness of not shining it in someone eyes.
If you really want a 30mW, maybe someone in this forum have one. Try to post a request in the trade-topic.
You get a discount on laser goggles on this site when you buy a laser. These would protect your (or someone elses) eyes.
There are also some (a lot) cheaper laser goggles on ebay, mentioned elsewhere on this forum. I can't speak for the quality or safety on these ones untill I've tried them, but some say they work good.
And of course, there is always 5% discount if you use the promo code 3495.
Good luck! |

| im in a horrible position. im not stupid and careles so i wouldnt bee waving a laser at anything. bu at the same time 10mw is weak sauce. i want somethign visible in the day time as well as night bc heck we are awake during the day and where is the fun of a laser only at night. i was thinking either a 30 or a 20 which from my research doesnt require goggles unless ur going to be lookign atraight at the reflection. BUT WL doesnt make 30's or 20's. OR DO THEY? All ive seen is 65's and as much as i would love to own one im sure its too powerfull to a beginner like me, BUT im not as much of a beginner where i need a 10mw. Y spend 99 on a 10 when u can just spend a little more for a 30mw. Is WickedLasers a reputable company. i must admit im hessitant to buy a laser from them only bc WL has a Redonkulous shipping policy. HELP A BRO OUT. |

| When you say you want something visible in the day time, you mean you're expecting to see the beam in the day time? Even Nexus 95mW can't do that. I'm sure the dot will be visible in day time with any model. |

Lets be a little more specific here.....these handheld lasers we love so much, are NOT visible in DIRECT SUNLIGHT! In other words....outside during the day in direct sunlight you WILL see the "Dot", but not the beam. Now...if you are indoors during the day you can indeed see the BEAM on my Nexus.

Although some fog was added to this shot for the camera you can still see the beam quite well without the fog. Hope this helps. Dale[/url] _________________ Best Regards Chargerman

Wicked Lasers used to carry a 25mW unit that might suit your needs quite well, however it is no longer
available on the site. You could try emailing wicked@wickedlasers.com to see if he has any left. I would
suggest going for the 65mW, you won't regret it. As long as you are responsible and careful with it, there
shouldn't be a problem. Just use common sense and don't shine it at anything reflective without wearning
safety googles. _________________ Click http://freewebs.com/photodavidgojr before buying to view photographs and learn about Wicked Lasers in action!

| ok reflected as in stop signs, anything mirror related. im reading that if i shien it on anything it will reflect of of the object and blind me. Thus me not beign able to shine it anywhere without goggles. |

A laser will certainly reflect light from street signs, registration plates on cars and stopsigns, windows etc. Aside from that, they're fine to use outside as long as you don't cause mischief that might result in law enforcement getting called in.
Your dillemma is that any laser that's going to offer you a visible (yet ghosting) beam in daytime is also going to be quite capable of damaging your eyes if you make a mistake or mess around with it. It's beam will be visible indoors but not so much outdoors in sunlight. The higher the power, the more visible the beam.
Technically, anything over the power of <5mW is quite potentially harmful... even a 7mW laser. But the danger from reflection is what worries most of us. You should get safety glasses when doing any experiements where a laser might bounce back at you or reflect into your eyes from the edge of something shiny. We've found from our own experiences that brief exposure to specular reflections from a 30mW laser is not necessarily going to be a disaster, but anything higher in power is not going to result in a happy ending if you mess up.
A 10mW laser is MUCH brighter than a 5mW laser. It's quite a jump in power. The next power jump that your eyes will notice is 30mW. Then, 60mW and perhaps 100mW and so on. If you hold a 30mW and a 50mW together side by side you won't see a difference really. But hold a 10mW and a 60mW together or perhaps a 50mW and a 100mW together and you can actually see a big difference in power. The difference between a 10mW and a 30mW is only slightly visible to the human eye. The beams is very much the same. In daylight the dot is absolutely identical and at night, the beam brightness difference is only noticable when you carefully examine the two side by side. At first glance, they appear to be the same laser. This is because the human eye is unable to process a lot of the information that it takes in when viewing coherent light.
I think it would take a lot of deliberate effort to harm yourself or someone else with a 10mW laser. 30mW is kind of on the edge. Anything over 45mW is in the bad-news category. I see that Wicked have removed some of their stock in the 30-60mW range. You may wish to email them and see if thay have any left or go for the nicely priced 10mW. Just remember that they're not toys. Not at all. _________________ Regards,

I talked to their online chat rep and they said that it may be several months before they get more 10mW. Their reason is something like "we need to make more".
Yay for demand>supply! FTW!
For those of you who don't know the meaning of FTW, it is For The Win. |
