In australia they have made these new laws banning anything with a power outage of anything that is over a 1mW. This is extremely frustrating because i dont want to use it for illegal reasons i just want to have some harmless fun...

Previouse to this i ordered a 150mW green laser of WickedLasers and when it got to australia customs confiscated it because it was too powerfull... it read at 100mW which i was happy with (power output) because i got it for $40 but customs got it :/...

Im pretty good with electronics so i decided i would start custom making my own laser pointers turning old torches into high powered lasers.

So i picked up half a dozen Wicked casings, i modded 1 with a weak 5mW red diode to begin with all good!

I then modded my second with a 50mW red laser! and was impressed...
(got from a dvd burner)

I then decided to move onto some cool colors where my problems began!

I wanted another green diode but i cant find any on the net. I went back to my electronic handbook and found out a green laser can not be made straight of the batch it requires a infer red diode with special modifcations to allow it to reach the right wavelenght...

So i ask? is it possible to build a decent green laser pointer around $100 with a decent power output? If so what parts will i need for my project?

P.S: sorry about my spelling its 11pm and i cant be bothered going back and fixing...

Yea, this is very very hard to do, and not mention expensive. It would be better to buy a pre-made laser.

If you want to do it as a hobby, it is possible, just barley possible tho.
You need to be quite experienced with electronics, soldering, and about the whole electric system. With volts and ampers and all that Shocked

But If you wanna do it to get a green laser cheaper and more powerfull, don't. It's almost impossible, it takes alot of time, and you will fail a couple of times before you get it right. It's probably cheaper, and better to buy.

So I just say, buy it if it's because you want a laser, build it if you want to build it for fun. Wink

And trust me, after dropping the small parts hundreds of times like I did. You will be ready to roundhouse the next person you see Wink
