I'm interested in tweaking the "pot" in my W.L. CORE Laser, but I can't get the front end off!! Does it unscrew or pulloff? Does anyone know? Or can anybody suggest anything? phoenix77

Actually, I do, considering I just took my core apart a day or two ago!

here's the picture by picture guide.

take a utility knife and make sure you've got a FRESH blade in it. Also, jewler's flat head screwdrivers are near vital to get this thing open properly!

Carefully, put the blade into the seam and press. It'll be hard going, but keep at it, a little space will appear. Go around the laser and do the same on a few sides. (pry off the button while you're at it, it's only glued on)

Once you've gotten the crack open, take out your jewlers screwdrivers and using the smallest first, slowly pull the end cap off.

once it gets PAST the rough part, grip it and pull! the aperture cap actually screws into the module! Shocked Pull slowly until it's out. (re-screw the aperture cap back into the module if you removed it.

Notice in the above picture right under the black thing, there's a pot. That's the modding pot. PLEASE don't try to push too much...

Also, if you want to look in the actual assembly more, the module screws apart. Once again, please don't mess with anything!

Once you've modded it to your desire, (make sure to mess with the collimating lens up front! it just screws in and out to adjust focus! make your focus better!) Align the stuff up again, and push it back in until the part where the button was glued on is in the hole for the button. Glue the button back on and you're done!

PS: if you want to make the module easier to mod... perhaps you could file the "tangs" that keep the grip on the case for the aperture cap. That way you can unscrew it and mod the focus at will!

Thanks for the tips in such detail, but I think I'm just going to be happy with what I've got. Thanks anyway for your trouble! Phoenix77

I've tried to mod my Phoenix 75mW to powered it.

I didn't think that it was sincerely so easy to open Smile ( except for the little varnish that is scratched )

I've tried to adjust the trimmer but I have not succeeded in strengthening him it a lot....only about 10% Sad

If I rotated too much the trimmer the laser it didn't ignite anymore Rolling Eyes

Hey GHOST, I changed my mind & according to your excellent instructional guide, I proceeded & succeeded in 'Core Tweaking' not only my CORE, but also my Classic. Both 'Pot-Mod's' came out GREAT Laughing I don't have a Coherent Field Meter to be sure, but by the things I'm now able to do with those 2 lasers leads me to believe that my CORE now puts out about 25mW's & my CLASSIC puts out around 40 or 45mW's. I just "tweaked" the 'POT' a little, & I don't use either laser a whole lot for long periods, so I think that if I continue this kind of usage, even with the 'Pot-Mod' they both should last pretty long. So, thank you VERY MUCH for your excellent instructions GHOST. I couldn't have done it without your VERY informative inormation Exclamation Wink Cool WELL DONE, GHOST

I cant even get the freakin' cap off!!!

Being that you have, can't you just use a bugger screwdriver and pull it out?

Make sure you pull the button off first. (that parts easy, and does not damage the laser) Smile

BTW: how did you get your cap loose?

I used quite along time getting the cap off

I used a fresh razor blade, and a knife, dont know what it is in English, its a special kind of knife. Carpenters use it.

Just cut, and press, cut and press, cut, cut, cut. And it doesnt pull out for me, after alot of cutting and pressing, I had to use the knife and try to get it of, then it got of, but then I found out I haddent pulled it of, it had been screwed off.

So, I have screwed off the cap, and can focus the laser, but nothing more. The module is stuck...

So, try to screw Wink
