Hello all,

I've recently bought a 50mW green laser.
The light is very visible and goes far, even the day. But it's impossible to burn anything or pop ballons... Even black ballons or black paper...

Any idea? Do you know if i can mod my laser for do this? Or where i can buy a cheap laser wich can do what i want?

Thank you

Try a lens, 50mw isn't that much power to burn, especially if you have wider beam diameter. A lens should focus is good enough to smoke black plastic things.

But, if you happen to have a too cheap pointer, it may just the the problem of not getting 50mw.

Wait, I think I have a question that everyone missed, where did you get the 50mW laser? Is it from Wicked? ebay?

In terms of a lens, use a magnifying glass, those work best...

Well, wicked lasers is probably the better choice. 125mW is alot of power so I am sure you will be able to burn through many things with that. Also, most lasers have a "sweet spot" where it burns extra well. This is when the beam converges and starts to diverge. I know its corny but...

HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHII convergence /\ ........Divergence
........(laser)..............................................sweet spot

My question is: Doesn't this mean that lasers with a sweet spot like... even 10 feet away, at 30 feet away, the beam would be twice as big? Wouldn't that be terrible mRad? Or is that normal? mRad of lasers is not a subject I am familiar with it all.
