I may be behind the times here, i don't know, but i've found out that Nichia have developed 445nm and now 473nm blue diodes? I personally prefer the 445nm colour, very nice. As far as i can find out though, an engineering sample of one of these diodes is currently around US$2800 !! Cheap eh!
Datasheets are in the laser diode section of Nichia's website.
(look at 2nd and 3rd entries in the engineering sample table, i would link but i'm not worthy!) |

Well... IT IS CHEAP! comare it to any Dpss laser! 550mW of 455nm! For 550mW you would be sending at least $7000...
but remember, all things are relative... so the diodes are very cheap for there colour and power! _________________ resistance is futile (if <1 ohm)

| They are selling 550mW 445mW diodes for 2800? That is a great deal actually. As long as they work. |
