first off, aside from ordering diffusion gratings online,
is there any certain type of store or anything that anyone knows of that sells this stuff?
id much rather get it in person than order it online,
as i do not have a credit card or paypal.

secondly,
diffusion grating is made of plastic, a certain type of plastic? i dont know.
but i was wondering if anyone knows if a 35 or 55 mw executive would melt this plastic.
cause that would suck.
i want this stuff.

Hello jharth, I have run 200mW's of RED & over 125mW's of GREEN Laser light through the 4 different diffraction gratings I have, & never had a problem with the plastic they're made of melting on me, even after 5 min's. of usage at point blank range. Wink Cool

they are specially made specifically so they won't melt. i saw something similar about acrylic lenses, but someone said it would take something like 2W to melt one.

They will hardly melt unless you're using a watt-range deep IR/CO2 laser which would burn the lens, like HumanSymphony said, it would take around 2W of visible light to burn the lens, there's no way that it could burn with an Executive, even the Pulsars use acrylic lenses.

Hi there again, You might try giving Edmund Scientific Co. a jingle. I think that they carry those (DG's), & they have a real store. Google up the address on the net. Hope this helps you out! phoenix77 Wink Cool
