The YouTube Challenge
It’s time for The YouTube Challenge! Pull that video recorder out of that closet and get those batteries charging. We’re looking for creative videos to place on the homepage of Laser Community. The videos could be funny, artistic, or could even be a Wicked Lasers commercial showcasing our lasers. Get this, the GRAND WINNER will receive the not yet released Spyder III laser unit with an average output of above 400mW!!
Video Requirements
Of course, we’re not looking for just any random video. The videos must be laser related, be more than 30 seconds in length, and contain “Visit www.wickedlasers.com” on the last frame. Please, no inappropriate material containing vulgar language, 'N3ROWN3D!', and or any inappropriate uses of lasers. All videos must be the original work of the member.
YouTube Requirements
On the Description section of YouTube, please insert:
This video is submitted for http://www.wickedlasers.com and http://www.lasercommunity.com for the YouTube Challenge. I’m Laser Community member __________(your LC user name here).
Submission Process
Videos must be uploaded to www.youtube.com with the proper tagging and to www.lasercommunity.com to be considered. After uploading the videos to both locations, please fill out the application form and submit it to support@lasercommunity.com. There are no limits to the number of videos submitted per member.
Judging
Videos are ultimately judged and voted on by members on Laser Community. Of all the videos submitted, the Wicked Lasers staff will vote and select the top 10 videos. Laser Community members must then cast votes for your favorite videos. 5 videos will be eliminated in this first round of voting. A second and final round of voting will take place where votes from our LC members will determine who will bring home the Spyder III 400mW laser.
As LC members will determine the winner, we highly encourage all members to post links to their videos on Laser Community for members to critique and discuss. The number of views/comments on YouTube will also be considered. Good luck!
Prizes
1st place winner: Spyder III laser w/ Tesla Cooling Technology
2nd – 5th place winner: Evolution 5mW laser

5/16/2008: Submissions Closed
5/30/2008: First Round Voting Begins (Top 10 Videos)
6/06/2008: First Round Voting Ends
6/09/2008: Second Round Voting Begins (Top 5 Videos)
6/20/2008: Second Round Voting Ends –Winner Announced!!

Has there been any word on when we can expect first pictures of the Spyder III, or will it just show up in the winner's mailbox, letting them take pictures.

Hmmm, there have been no videos accepted here on LC for like a week. I keep checking so i can send off my entry form...but the video section hasnt changed in ages.
I bet they will release the spyder 3 at the same time as the comp finnishes. My guess is nero or someone will put a review up on the day of release.

| I submitted my video last week and got an email saying that they have received it. I hope I win!!!! It's not up on Laser Community yet though. I'm sure they will just approve everything all at once... |

Shame I don't have a video recorder. But I can do an animation...
Okay, I have a question to the organiser. Can a Flash animation (uploaded onto youtube like any normal video) constitute a valid entry? I couldn't see anything specific in the rules saying that only 'real life' videos and lasers could be used  (btw, I own a Fusion, so I have got some real life inspiration) |
