| Its huge! lol. Looks great, and 10mW is quite a bit for a blu ray. Hopefully I will get to making one in the next month or so. |

You can only see the beam at night and I forgot to take my camera with me when I went on a walk...
I'll try to get 'em soon.
The odd thing is that the dot looks blue on white paper but the color is violet on everything else... _________________

It looks awesome
I guess the blue color is that the laser is fluorescin (I spelled it wrong, sorry )
Im not sure, but its my guess _________________ WickedLasers, change name on the Executive series!

So its laserchecked at 10mW? Cause I just picked up a 10mW 405nm pointer on eBay for about $250 (pretty sure its legit). Powered by two AAA 'like' Li-Ion batteries, and looks just like any ol' average joe laser pointer.
Being its only 10mW I am not expecting a supernova type brightness with it, but I am hoping its at least as bright as a 3mW greenie.

No, it is not laserchecked. The person I bought the diodes from, however, laserchecked them.
And I only spent $65 on my diode :O
Basically my person bought a PS3 replacement laser tray and took out the diode.
And I don't know how you're running it off of two batteries. Cleary the laser you bought cannot run off of AAs or AAAs. These diodes will not run at 3V. They need about 4.5V. Or up to 6V (which I used). You must be using CR123A's, which are ridiculously exspensive/overpriced (relatively)
EDIT: Nvm, you laid Li-ion. So that's why. I didn't feel like making a complicated driver circuit to take care of rechargeable battery spikes. _________________

Yeah, Li-ion, both batteries are 320mAh and 3.7 volts.
haha, just found this video. Which actually is good news. You say it was a PS3 laser diode? Well this guy used a PS3 laser to make his 'Star Trek phazer" lol, and it looks plenty bright to me.

Obviously its in fog, but nevertheless looks decently bright. _________________ 125mW Fusion - Divergence- 1.0 mRad | TEM00-TEM01* Doughnut mode | 119mW peak, 103 Nominal

That does look good. And the phaser seems brighter than my laser... but I don't have fog to test it. Just cold, dry air... _________________

oops...accidentally linked the wrong thing, lol.
I meant to link to this (near end of video shows a demonstration)

hey,
got my HD-DVD drive today, so I'll have a blueray laser next time.
Where can I get the optics for the diode? _________________ green 3~8mw ebay laser

Anybody here who can tell me the max voltage for those 405 nm diodes?
about 5 V ? _________________ green 3~8mw ebay laser

| Laser diodes do not run with a set voltage. They develope a voltage when a current is dropped over them. I wouldn't push them any higher than 40mA, but it changes with the manufacturer. You can make a current regulator circuit using a regular LM317 regulator. With blu ray there are so many factors that affect its resistance, that you should not just regulate voltage. The max voltage can change with the manufacturer as well. |
