Most DVD players/burners use constant wave diodes not pulsed. Some DVD burners use pulsed diodes, but it's not that common.
DVD Burner diodes range from ~60mW to ~200mW CW depending on the speed etc. |
I know this is a bit off topic but how fast would you need a DVD burner to go to be about 100mW. 16x are the ones i see most commonly used and i think they get about 200mW of power... but im not sure. _________________

I can get smoke from black vinyl plastic from focusing the dot of my <15 mW bluray laser! I have shot a balloon and it slowly deflates. |
