I heard it was a good idea to cut the black paper in order to get more range of movement. Is this correct?
I'm mounting this horizontally. Might that push the coil so far as to fall out? |

Furthermore.....it's not so much where the cone is attached to the upper basket, or how it's attached, that limits cone movement....it's the strenght of the fiber impregnated ring thats glued to the base of the cone and the basket(under the cone), that determines the speaker cones range of movement. Most musical instrument speakers....i.e. guitar/bass amplifiers have very strong cone to base attachments, and are attached to the upper cone via the cones material...paper/carbon/aluminum...whatever, these speakers are designed to be very loud, but not to have a lot of cone movement. Where foam surround speakers...subwoofers...ect are designed for maximum movement have very soft, flexible cone to base rings. Just my 2 cents. (I installed car audio systems for years when I was younger) _________________ Best Regards Chargerman
