I'm posting this in a semi-response to the global warming thread/making an interesting post (the global warming response is at the end of the article). An interesting read, we aren't actually from the Milky Way, but we are being eaten by the Milky Way
Our poor homeland, Saggitarius Dwarf Galaxy, is going to die _________________

Excellent find bummerboy. Did you see the vid showing the locations of the voyager 1 & 2 spacecraft, amazing.
Well this adds to the debate in the other thread about global warming. Very interesting indeed.
As for this topic, when I look at diagrams and simulations of galaxies, seeing how massive space really is, then there must be some other life form out there. You never know, maybe as the milky way continues to eat up other galaxies, it will inevitably PULL another galaxy with life forms in towards ourselves, bringing aliens to us and that we don't need to travel that far to reach them.....interesting thought. _________________ Beam divergence formula:

Heh, this fits in with a theory that I toy with in my head every once in a while...
what if each solar system was an atom/molecule/particle all part of a much larger thing. You have the milky way which seems to be acting as an amoeba... (catch the drift?)
Anyways just a thought, it'd be almost funny if there were planets that make up solar systems (atoms) that make up the desk you're typing on.
Pretty cool link though! _________________

Unfortunately I think science has proven the smallest objects in known existence are quarks _________________

but there is still sooo much more for us to learn. I'm 100% sure they will find smaller and smaller things than quarks using better technology as it becomes available to us. Just last year or 2 years ago, they said Pluto wasn't a planet _________________ What a 15mw can do to your eyes in an instant (not me): http://www.milankarakas.org/pub/Eye_injury/Eye_injury.html

Well considering we can't "see" it, it doesn't prove it's not a solar system or something...
anyways, just a fun thought. Maybe we're the only creatures on this "scale" of things, and the aliens live in the molecules/milkyway eating our piece of "food"

They'll find a universe, our universe makes a fraction of a quark, or atom, or whatever. We're actually very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very small. I mean our universe is very very very very (...) small.
I didn't find that disturbing, because what's the diffrence between these 2 galaxies? Only size or type, nothing else. Both have a supermassive black hole in the center, and I wouldn't worry where I am from. If our Sun is from that dwarf galaxy, then I am too, and that's fine with me. |
