Why don't they use a laser beam gun. I think now the tecnlology allows them to do that.

wait till cold fusion is possible before even thinking about a laser gun that "burns through anything" appears! hehe

too much heat is generated with the huge amounts of current needed for those lasers!!!

Lasers are going to reach their limit for handheld/portable just because for stronger beams you need more power, as for devices that will be hooked up to a powersource that will group, it is basically if you have the money for the finest materials to build the laser, if you do, you get a superior laser, if not, you dont' get no laser Razz.

Most lasers used by the military are for painting targets for laser-guided missiles.

The missiles are programmed to be drawn to the 532nm dot painted on the target. To be honest, a good exampleof this would be in that huge fight sequence at the end of Transformers.

The Spyder II operates at the same wavelength as those big military ones and often fools the enemy into thinking they are being painted.
