You might also want a 80mW CNI infrared laser; it will light matches but will not hurt your eyes while looking at the dot (some part of IR are absorbed by your eyes . And remember, never shine it in the eyes because blink reflex are horrible with IR.
The problem is, in daylight, the dot is invisible so always use it in darker condition or you would be blind without knowing it. You won't notice the beam as well. IR lasers are only for burning.
If I'm wrong someone correct me please ! |
You're wrong in (at least) three spots and right in one. 'ere we go:
1. it's not a 'horrible blink reflex' with IR - with most IR wavelengths, it's *no blink reflex* at all. Goodbye eyesight.
2. "some part of IR are absorbed by your eyes " - no, as said in some other posts in other topics, human tissues are pretty translucent to IR. Try putting an IR bulb near skin, it will thoroughly warm up , not just the thin upper layer of skin.
3. "The problem is, in daylight, the dot is invisible so always use it in darker condition or you would be blind without knowing it." - when you use in in the dark, your pupils will dilate even more, getting more of the IR into your eyes and getting it focussed on your retina. Sounds like a big, dumb recipe for disaster to me.
Now we're done with the incorrect, let's go the one correct statement:
1. "IR lasers are only for burning" - that's right, they are. And therefore, they're pretty damn good at burning your retina as well.
Why do you think that all of our good lasers have IR filters in place, you ***** (censored by self)???????? Let's just all give the newer people advice of such quality that they're gonna be with us for a looooong time to come. It's hard being a good and actively participating forum member when you have screwed up your eyesight because some ******* old you IR lasers are the ones to go with. These should be handled by experienced users ONLY (and with goggles at that)...

Yeah, that's what you get when you start throwing around BS in a topic by a new user that may cause aforementioned new user to lose his eye sight.
But I guess he's not the pny one who has been putting some illogical/unlikely things on soil around here too, so maybe you might not understand my point. |

| Thanks for pointing that out, Nick! Has been fixed now. I originally had a fourth point of error in mind, but i did some researching and couldn't really find a concrete-hard reasoning behind my hunch, so I let it go. Shouldn't have been put in there. Thanks again, mate! |
