is this normal and would this happen to a 105mW?
if I do order a 105mW, what will the initial output of the laser be? how long should the laser be kept on at most? how long should it be left alone to cool once left on? and does the power of the laser go down after being turned on?[/quote] |

it should operate at aprox 105mW after a couple seconds warm up, however I would not run it longer then about 30 seconds without letting it have a chance to cool down. If you run it longer then this, then there is a chance you can cause crystal or diode damage that will reduce output power due to overheating.

Hey Kushy, Quote:

What produced 40mw and then dropped off? A laser....leadlight.....wicked.....some batteries? Cheers Dale _________________ Best Regards Chargerman

| oh, i've never bought anything from wicked... yet, so far i'm thinking their products are quality, but I just want to make sure is all. I found that quote on some other forums complaining about wicked lasers and the legality of shipment into the USA... |

I have not had any Wicked product drop in output like that. All DPSS lasers have a warm up period of a couple seconds, and Wicked's seem to run very stable. Just be careful to pay attention to over heating and everything should be ok.
Cheers, |

Hey Kushy, I understand your concerns regarding shipment. I just ordered my first laser from Wicked and we'll see how it goes. Hopefully I'll get it w/out problems |

| i'm not so woprried about the shipment... i mean if they gaurantee it with an extra $100 without deliverance... there isnt much (or anything really) to lose. i'm more worried about the actual laser after the warranty runs out, i want to beleive that the 105mW i'm in the process of ordering wot last 6 months and then diminish in power, i'm hoping it lasts 105mW at least an entire year at the very least. but what do I know about lasers and their life... |

Same here. Been working with technology, I know 'N3ROWN3D!' happens and things break, and this laser thingy will break some time. I got the 2 year extended warranty and I'm hoping the folks at wicked will take care of my problem when it happens. |

Sorry for changing the topic slightly but i didnt want to start a new thread over this.
In the situation that you look after your laser prestigiously and with great care all the time - Is there anything you can do if it stops working say 2 months after the warrenty ends?

What 2 year warranty? I never heard about no 2 year warranty or I would have taken it! Cheers Dale _________________ Best Regards Chargerman

| Add the laser to your cart and then you'll see a button which says 2 year extended warranty, 45 bucks (or 49, can't remember now) |

|

How to make your laser last for a decade+ (or 5,000 hours use) or more:
*Put 3M tape (or similar) over the aperture of your laser when it's in your pocket
*Be careful bending over ...in case the laser slides out of your pocket
*Use a small plastic bag on the end of your laser when it's in your pocket (as well)
*Remove batteries from laser if not being used for a few days... or longer
*Don't carry your laser 24 hours a day... only when you think you might use it
*Don't use it beyond 10 to 20 second bursts at a time. This will avoid overheating it.
*If you have to use longer, try to keep the bursts to around 30 seconds max each
*Replace both batteries at the same time (to avoid one discharging into the other)
*Don't drop the laser. Treat it like a digital camera. _________________ Regards,
