I just bought a P125 and have a couple questions:
1. How powerful is a P125 unaided? Can it light matches?
2. Does the duty cycle cause the laser to automatically shut off or do you have to keep track of time?
3. On so many threads they talk about focusing the laser. Does that refer to using a lens, modding it, or is the focuser built in and you manually ajust it?
Sorry if I seem stupid with some easy questions but I'd like to know before my laser arrives. |

the p 125 can't do anything unaided except pop balloons.
focusing does refer to using a magnifying glass or some kind of lense.
aided meaning using a lense it can burn anything black light matches you name it.
as for the duty cycle you have to keep track of that but the pulsar has a nearly unlimited duty cycle but to extend the life of your laser follow the recomended duty cycle of 100 seconds on 10 off
any other questions? |

Congrats!

Nah, probably at it's focal point, which is located ~20 feet away (not always).
Pulsars are incredibly good when it comes to long distance balloon popping, I managed to pop a black balloon 35 feet away with my Pulsar 100.

No, it doesn't shut off, so you have to be careful, Pulsars are said to have an unlimited duty cycle, but you may want to stick with the safe side (100 seconds on, 10 seconds off).

Using a lens or modding it, I wouldn't recommend modding if you are not experienced with lasers, as you may end up killing it.
By using a convex lens, you can focus the beam into a tiny spot which burns like crazy (lights matches instantly, burns holes in plastic and paper etc...)

It would be more stupid if you didn't ask. _________________ >>Click here to go to my laser userbars site!<<

Any convex lens like a magnifying glass works, but lens caps are easier to use and are specifically designed for lasers.
The focal point (the smallest part of the beam) is the portion of the beam that burns the most. _________________ >>Click here to go to my laser userbars site!<<

| I like the new lense caps - if you don't focus mod it, buy the lens cap - great bargain and good looks for the money if you ask me ! |

I second that. If you want easy - no hassle burning - the caps are worth the $40. Seriously, holding the laser, a lens and target is tricky. With the caps, it is just point-and-shoot. _________________ http://www.ineedcaffeine.com & http://www.millcityliving.com |
