| I am currently in the process of ordering a 105mW and I was wodnering... is it bad for the laser to shine it into a mirror so that the beam reflects off the mirror and back right into the barrel? |

Yes this would cause heat build up within the laser and could damage the crystals. Also it could damage the pump diode due to over heating.

| well, I did this with my 5mW laser... i figured the particles in the path of the beam are 'lighting up' creating the beam, maybe if I reflect it straight back the beam would be twice as bright... but i didn't notice a idfference. Also, my 5mW is now a 0.3mW i swear (exxagerating, but very very low, less than 5mW, cheap $3 red pointer is brighter and those are rated <1mW) |

YES! If you want to see what happens with reflected laser light, there's a short video on the Wicked webpage that I made a couple of weeks ago: (see second half of the video)
http://www.wickedlasers.com/videos/Laser3.mov
As you can see, reflected laser light from a mirrored surface will be the same as shining the laser directly at the subject. If you have to reflect a laser back towards itself, only use <1mw-<10mW in laser strength output for such purposes. _________________ Regards,
