blacken the inside of the cap, and try to burn a hole, then you see the imperfections of your laser... =/

That would make it worst, the smoke from the rubber would stick on to the lens and it'll be hard to clean off, and how will you see the inperfections? All the "Spray" would be inside the cap, and you would only see the beam coming out.

Ummm, if this thing fits on the lens where the hole is then suction when you take the cap off could easily damage the lens assembly!!

It might smoke the rubber, so I suggest switching that cap with a different color.
(The smoke from the rubber can stain the lens of your laser.

If you are worried about burning through it, buy a clear cap online.

I've used the end of a toothpaste tube on mine.
it fits perfectly with a tight fit, and all you need to do it flip it open to use. no need to fumble with little rubber stoppers at the end Smile
It doesnt' offer the same impact protection from a few inches tho, but I have a lanyard to keep it falling greater distances.

oh, and it doesn't cost anything extra (after you finish with the toothpaste) Smile

this is an older photo of it. I took this pic after i Modded it to incorporate a lens to concentrate the beam.
I've also relocated my warning sticker a little lower so the cap doesn't scrunch it up.

wow, that is a good idea....toothpase caps! i never thougth of that!keeps them dust free too huh,....

Hey Vic, it's been a while...

I' think that might be a lens out of a cd burner/reader.
