lol, he calls it a red diode laser..and yet its a 532nm Laughing

So I wonder which it really is?

Also is is true that red diode lasers don't emit IR?

Ooooooh cool... A 532nm red laser !!!!

I WANT ONE !!! They must be as rare as rocking-horse manure !!!

No. Red diodes don't emit IR, unless they are ones like the 808nm.
You'll see a red glow from them, but they are 'near IR' lasers.

Most red diodes seem to be either 670nm, 650nm or 635nm.
(Someone please correct me if I am wrong).
The closer the wavelength is to 555nm, the more visible it will be.

Yes, according to my tests, when giving around 100mw of green, my Fusion is leaking about half a milliwatt of IR.

My Fusion is one of the new all-black, clipless models.

My tests involved bouncing the beam from a hot-mirror (a piece of glass which has been coated to reflect IR and allow visible light through) and measuring the reflected beam with my LaserCheck at 808nm and 1064nm settings.

I know it's not entirely accurate, but it's a reasonable indication.
Testing my 8mw green eBayser the same way, I get 8mw of green and 2mw of IR. My labby does have a filter but it is nowhere near as good as the filter in the Fusion. It gives about 1mw of IR for 150mw of green.

I don't know how good the filters are in the CNI models as I've not tested one.

How will you know if there's anything wrong with it ?
You'll need to do some IR photography whilst filtering the green from the beam to see the IR component.

I did the same as you, Carl. I bought a 150mw eBayser before I found this forum and discovered the importance of having an IR filter.
My eBayser went straight back and I bought the Fusion.
I'd not buy another DPSS without thoroughly checking into the residual IR component now. Any that I buy gets a thorough testing too...
