Hi,
Here is my latest LaserSaber prototype. It's not up on my website yet. I'm giving you all an early preview.
Features:
Constant on option.
The smooth light growing retracting effect when used seperately.
Works as either two separate sabers or one dual blade saber.
More info coming soon... http://www.lasersaber.com/

It looks nice. But what about the duty cycle? If it is 100s on and 10s off then this means you cannot use it more than 100seconds.
And can you make a video of light growing retracting effect ?

I meant to say: "The smooth light growing retracting effect when used seperately." When used as a dual blade LaserSaber it's just on and off.
To see the effect when used seperately: http://www.lasersaber.com/lasersaber.wmv
I use the Pulsar lasers if I want to go longer then the 100/10. |

That's awesome! Wouldn't the lasers be damaged/messed up to some extent from the saber being swung around??
Cheers!

| Guys, these things are really neat - I was in a "Sharper Image" store yesterday, and was talking about my laser saber with the guy trying to sell the master replicas ones - and the sales guy was swiftly writing down Cheyenne's and Wicked's web info to check them out ! I promised a comparison video LONG ago between a Master replicas one, and a Laser Saber, I NEED to do that, soon ! The Laser Saber is MUCH brighter, since it uses your laser to light it up, the M.R uses an LED strip inside it - and cannot light up the way the Laser Saber does ! I will get my friend to bring in two of his M.R. ones to do some comparison shots of - hopefully I can get them done this week. |

Actually, I ship to the UK all the time. I guess I should point out on my website that the shipping rate is a flat rate for worldwide shipping.

I always wanted to know how this effect works? Is there a non reflective piece that rolls when you make the saber upside down?
Maybe you can also add some sound effects! |

gotta love the starwars kid! He even got a spoof in wierd al's white and nerdy music video...
Anywho, that looks REALLY nice! I've been curious though, you're using a laser to power it... what if you wack something (I know it's not really meant for that, but, it's going to happen if you're swinging it around... either that or you'll drop it...)
is there any sort of shock proctection? I keep seeing this sorbothane (I think I botched the spelling on that one) in the Edmund Optics book I get... says it takes 98% of the shock or something like that. It's meant for optics and is basically a rubber sheet... just a thought, might make it a bit easier on the laser if you padded it with that. _________________

Wow, I've been thinking about building something along these lines. I have a standard pointer 15mw green laser that looks identical to the wicked lasers and would love to purchase one of your setups... how do you get the beam to power up and down the blade and is that part of the laser setup or your rig?
Sooooo when is the power up and down version going to be available?
