| I would like to make a laser light show that can display text, simple graphics, and also make effects such as liquid sky, tunnels, stars/explosions, etc. Where can I find the scanners, hardware, and software at a decent price? |

Get your wallet at the ready. For a solid setup to do what you're asking you should expect to invest upwards of $2.5k unfortunately.
Unless you want to go the homemade route, in which case I'd suggest you look over Boomdog's site. The stuff there won't get you close to what you want, but may help you set your expectations a little more realistically to match your budget. |

Yes, GottaLoveLasers is in the entertainment business and he does not charge 750 dollars an hour for nothing, the set up needed is increadably expensive to get a professional result, not only that you need knowledge on how to use them properly.
But saying that you can get a decent scanner at about 250 dollars and get your own laser display going in your own home. This would be quite realistic and something that we could help you achieve. _________________

| Yeah, cheapo Chinese scanners can suffice at low cost. The control software for what you're asking though would easily run you >$1.5k for a solid setup, and then there's the cost of the laser. That's why it may be more interesting/rewarding to do it DIY... Nothing you're gunna go pro with, but it makes a cool project and can save you a lot of $$. (heck, some people even try making their own galvos so the entire project ends up being pretty cheap... though very time consuming) |
