This is NOT REAL, just me musing.
We all obviously have seen devices that project light outward. What if the technology were to be developed that allowed a device to create an absence of light in one spot, a theoretical "black" laser? _________________

there was a thread about this not too long ago..
and i think this should be in the forum "invisible lasers"
/end nit picking _________________ Cant put the brand name for some dumb reason 532nm - 100-120mw
Nope! Cant post this one either 200mw 665nm - On the way!
Not even the name of the 5mw 532nm - On the way! (Planned for IR burner. Crystals to be removed)
Flashlights arent allowed either??! Flashlight - 2x CR123A

It is not truly an invisible laser, though, in the sense that invisible lasers are still projecting electromagnetic radiation of some wavelength. Theoretically, this device would create a total absence of light. I guess it wouldn't really be a laser either, though, because laser is defined as light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation, and this thing acts more like a portable black hole... Anyway, point taken _________________

Gone over twice? Wow, I need to keep up on the older posts. I know that it wouldn't be possible, it's just the idea. _________________

yeah but that wasnt realy a black laser that was just a dim grey projection in a incredible lit up room. still looked pretty cool though. |

haha i never saw that. when i was reading the intro, i was imagining him tying a black piece of yarn to the end of his labby or something, hahahha.. _________________ Cant put the brand name for some dumb reason 532nm - 100-120mw

You guys are all missing a key scientific discovery...namely darkons! Although the device would probably be called a "daser" instead. Here's some detailed info:

(note: if this document makes no sense, it's just that your mastery if Physics is lacking...)

Black lasers DO exist, check out my Black-Ray Sonar!
And purple vaseline glass marbles exist too!

You can actually see interference patterns (black spots) when a laser is shone and reflected off a white surface, but my guess is it'd be very hard or virtually impossible to make an anti-laser as good as an the anti-sound devices we see today. _________________

Portable black holes that can be focused down? Coherentoles? Blakazer? Not a reality in the forseable future. _________________

Remember though, that those spots are not black. They just don't contain the original laser-light. They are at the same colour/intensity as they would be if the laser was not switched on. ie.. They are the same colour as the surface would be in regular ambient lighting.
They only appear black because of a trick of our vision in the way that we see contrasts.

I swear, everytime someone puts up a black laser post, all I can think of is that Hellraiser movie (don't recall which one, maybe part 2?) where there is this anti-searchlight, sort of like a lighthouse but with a beam that sucks up all light....I guess a black laser would have to be an evil laser! _________________ Lasers are like potato chips - you can't have just one!
