And what power range will you be selling. My kid would like a <5mW for Christmas. And, well, you know, I might have to get a higher powered one for me too. |

The official announcement: Start saving up, we'll have red in by December. The only output is 100mW, which is visually about 4.5X brighter than a 5mW red. And is equivalent to a 5mW Green laser in terms of visibility, we'll have photos soon before they go on sale, retail price will be $199.99. Remember, this is the first class IIIB Red Laser Pointer available, and its through Wicked Lasers exclusively, as we are the manufacturers of this product.
Some FAQs:
Question - Why is it only 4.5X brighter than a 5mW cheap red laser?
Answer - The eye perception is different than actual output difference linearly. For example, if I have a 9mW red, it would light up an area of 3x3 area, If I have a 81mW red, it would like up 9X9 area, but you would say its only 3X brighter to the eye.
Question - Why 199.99$? a cheap red laser costs 5 bucks or less.
Answer - Check out the prices of a 650nm 100mW laser diode, the lowest price is on ebay where you can buy them for $155 plus shipping.
Question - Will prices go down for the Red Lasers?
Answer - We've always been ahead of the competition with our output powers and prices, last year, when we introduced the 45mW Extreme Green Laser Pointer into the market, we sold it for 299$, now you can purchase a 85mW at 309$. Also, earlier this year, we sold our Nexus 95mW at 499$, now its 369$. Prices change when technology changes, for example look at cars and laptop computers, in months, newer models come out and prices drop heavily. Of course, the high powered laser pointer market is slower on the uptake than other technology markets so it will really depend on several market factors. Right now is your chance to be the only one in your state or country with a 100mW red laser pointer. Once everyone starts having them and higher power comes out, then of course, the prices may go down a little, but the product you own will equally drop in uniqueness.
Question - I want more power than 100mW. Will Wicked Lasers come out with more powerful reds?
Answer - We have no plans at the moment for other powers than 100mW, but as with most things, time will tell, and if demand is high enough, we will always appease the masses.
Question - Do you have prices for over 100mW Red lasers?
Answer - No.
Question - How dangerous is it to the eyes, do you have goggles?
Answer - Its as dangerous as a 100mW green laser, although it will seem more 'safe', but I assure you its equally hazardous to the eyes. We do not have goggles yet, but we will be doing our best to find a supplier for 650nm goggles at an affordable price.
Question - What is the power source and the size?
Answer - Uses 2 AAA batteries, and is the same size as our current pens, but its in a different style. (Pics coming soon)
Question - Whats the warranty period?
Answer - 3 Months with optional 2 year extended warranty, same as our other products.
Question - Whats the duty cycle?
Answer - You can leave these on indefinately until the batteries die.
Question - Can I preorder?
Answer - No.
Question - If I order when it comes out can I have it for Christmas
Answer - If it takes more than 7 business days after you place your order, you get 100$ back, so do your calculations.
Question - When can I order?
Answer - In under two weeks, you should expect to see some photos shortly.
Question - Does it burn stuff?
Answer - From what I've tested it does not burn anything, but I could be wrong, I only put it on my hand and did not feel anything.
Question - Can I see the beam?
Answer - Compare it to a 5mW Green, you can see the beam when youre directly looking at it, but not from other angles. With some smoke or fog, the beam becomes very visible and clear, unlike regular 5mW red lasers.
Best Regards |

| 100 mw powered by 2 AAA batteries. Is that enough to give a decent run time; more than just a few minutes at 100 mw. |

From the place that sells 100mw diodes for $155, 200mw diodes are $285 so I guess if a 200mw was made available it would be .... I don't know $350/$400? Without question I would definitely pay that extra bit for a 200mw unit, and I'm sure I'm not the only one.
Nudge, nudge, hint, hint. |

| Green diodes vary in output power from many things that red lasers don't have to deal with... does that mean that when you buy a 100mW 650nm diode that you WILL get near 100mW output power or does the beam lose it's power from internal manipulation? |

What's different between the new 100mW and the old one? For $199.99 you can get the 150mW.

That:
- This topic is 1 year old.
- Prices went down, probably because the laser parts are cheaper than before.
I'm not sure about this though. _________________ >>Click here to go to my laser userbars site!<<

question
I have a laser "pointer". It's not a one dollar laser that runs on the little watch batteries. it had a little circuit board and runs on 2 AAAs.
I've seen the video of how to make a 5mw green laser strong enough to burn and was wondering if that was possible with my red one. |
