well yeah, you could use a green laser with a bit of diffraction to blind a person momentarily, but while fighting, using green lasers would make the user stand out, allowing a sniper to take him/her out!
but if you used an ir-laser, only those using night-vision lenses would see the beam |
But if they know your using IR wouldn't they arm thier snipers with Night-vision? |
Uh huuh, me thinks so!! What say others? |

| When a laser hits a cockpit or a windshield, is it typically refracted or does it maintain the integrity of the beam. I remember when those pilots were complianing that people shooting lasers into a cockpit would blind them, but it is hard to imagine it doing so without the beam hitting them in the eye. |

Just looks like flashlights filmed in night vision to me. |

The snipers use a system of gps and scopes with ir if possible.
They shoot hte ir at the target, and they see the ir through the scopes, and take aim and shoot, this meathod is very effective because the sniper can be extreamly far away, and still kill the target, which is the purpose of a sniper. |

In close combat, wouldn't it be useful to have a laser (eitehr mounted or handheld) to swipe in your opponents face and blind them? I mean our little 30-100ml "toys" can cause permanent eye-damage, imagine what a 300-500mw (or higher) directly to the eye would cause! I'd imagine instant blindness. |

| Wouldn't it be far more practical to have a flash grenade? |

Depends on how many of you there are and how many of them. If there are lots of you and a few of them, then no, because you'll be more at risk of blinding your allies, while a laser is much more personal. Not to mention, IIRC a flash grenade is temporary, while a laser is permanent. you dont EVER have to worry about your enimy 'recovering' and being able to see to hurt you or your allies. |
