Hello.
A local flea market seller has this HeNe laser he was offering to me in like 20 bucks, its a Melles Griot from a xerox machine model numer 05-LHP-153 7mW.
I have read that this kind of laser is kind of safe, probably one could look into the laser (honestly I would not ever do that [anymore] )
So, I like asking the community about what can I do with it. I am tempted to buy it from him, it comes with the power supply thingie which is rather small like a pack of cigarettes only a tad thinner.
Thanks for any comments.

I have 2 HeNe lasers, I use them in my science projects. 7mw for $20 seems cheap, I only have about 2mw. HeNe lasers have an excellent beam quality, far better than most pointers. I'd buy them, but I'm more in the physics side of things.
That small probably black box is the power supply. it converts from prably 12 or 24 volts to approx 2000 volt. It should come with the high voltage Alden connectors and be completely insulated, so that there is no high voltage risk. 2KV can be very hefty, and perhaps deadly under the wrong conditions, I'm not an expert in that kinds of things.
Still, it's fun |

Is there any risk of injury with this laser besides high voltage you mentioned? Blindness, burns?

blindness / burning is like other lasers, do not look dirctly in the laser, point on persons... you know ^^ _________________ green 3~8mw ebay laser

| indeed, 7mw of a HeNe laser is just like you other 7mw pointers, although the 632,8nm appears a lot brighter that the normal red 650nm pointer, but not as bright as 532nm green. |
