Hi, I've got an FPGA starter board from my old digital class and now that I'm out of school, I have some time to mess with it and my laser. But I don't know what I should use to run my laser.
I want it to be "always on". Of course, my 75mW CNI from TL won't do that, but I can certainly clock values on and off. So what frequency should I run the laser at to keep it safely under max temp?
Also, it has a 3.3V out. Two standard AAA's is 3V, is 3.3V too much?
And lastly, I measured 80mA from weak batteries. I recall 100mA is max brightness. That's correct, yeah?
Hopefully, then I can make some motor controllers and then start programming my own self contained scanner, no PC control.
I know, if I wanted to go hardcore I'd use a moto microcontroller, but I don't have the equip to do those. |

You can use a diode. diodes absorb about 0.5 V... so you get 2.8

Maybe my connector isn't reliable...
I hooked it up to 3.3V. From the source, it says 79.6mA. When connected and button not pressed, same thing. When I press the button, it only draws 2mA and the laser does not turn on.
Putting batteries in still works, and the batteries show about 83mA.
Any ideas?
So wait, these lasers limit the current? |
