I think I took control of my first dream when I was 12. I was in a haunted house (a really weird one with warped walls and weird noises) and I went down stairs that resembled the neighbors basement flight, and I always got shot in the back of the neck by (as silly as it sounds) a laser shot by a smoke detector. I would immediatly wake up after feeling a fake sensor of pain right there. I had this dream since I was 5 and had been battling for quite a while, until one night i just said "no" and I hit the detector and destroyed it, knowing what it would do to me....

Who knew that years later that lasers would be a prime interest of mine, not only in my hobbies but also in my major. Ironic....

Reading Chief's book would be really fun.

As for my super powers:

Premonitions - comes as a combined mix of fear and worrying. I can foresee quizzes, trouble that day, i can remember foreseeing all the trouble that was waiting for me on a field trip or when going hunting. The trouble with this - i never really know whether it's my powers or just my mood. Let's say, the time when i was taking tests to be able to study in the best gymnasium in the city. When i took the final tests, and the results were gonna be displayed only 2 days ago, i got so nervous, that all i could do was walk around my house. I thought that this was a premonition that i failed (I made it, and with a pretty good score). Luckily, i was smart enough to stop myself from hitting brick walls of the house, and my ability to block pain when i'm ready for it helped me survive that minute when i got out of control.

Dream control - when i was younger, i continiously (not every night, but still, a couple of times a year atleast) had one nightmare: i'm little, about 5 years old, and i'm at my grandmother's place. I'm playing with toys from a big sack of toys my grandma used to have, and suddenly my mother qand my grandmother say the "The witch is comming!!!". After a second the wich appears from nowhere and starts chasing me. I run around in a circle, and the witch chases me (one interesting detail - the witch chases me either on foot, or on a broom, but i remember one time when the witch was riding my grandma's vaccum cleaner). But while runing from her, my body would become heavy, it would become as flexible as clay, even the air was against me: moving through air was difficult, and i couldn't breathe.
One time when i was sleeping at my grandma's, i had this dream 2 times in one night. When i woke up the second time, i sat on the bed and tried to imagine how i feel in dream and what difference there is from how i feel in reality. I ordered myself to wake up if i feel at dreams again. As i expected, i had the same dream third time. But just as the air started to appear thicker, i suddenly remembered that this was a dream. I stopped, took a deep breath, and the air was light and refreshing again. I turned around, and suddenly everything went black. After less than a second i got the feeling of my body back, and i understood, that the blackness is there only because my eyes are closed. So i woke up in a middle of the night, but unlike beeing woken up from nightmares, i felt great. I hadn't had that nightmare from than since. But this ability aquired in 5 minutes has one disadvantage - i suddenly remember that i'm dreaming even through pleasant dreams or dreams i'm having fun in. Allthough pleasant dreams hold on much longer.
Controlling dreams - i can actually control my dreams. Just as soon as i understand that this is just a dream, i can do almoust anything. Unfortunately, after a minute i start fully understanding that i'm dreaming. At that time i start having total control over my dream, but unfortunately, that lasts only a few seconds - my "nightmare avoidance system" steps in - i take a deep breath and find myself awake.
Ordering myself to have dreams - yep, i can easily do that. Although i'm usually too tired to think about stuff like this when i'm going to sleep.
Now on to the subject of mind reading - i can do this too. I have a few classmates from my old school. I can actually predict what he's going to say before he says anything, and i can almoust finish sentences said by another one. Also, i can almoust understand the way that a girl from my former class thinks. And i'm getting the hang of understanding two girls from my new class. I can even understand when is a good time to announce some of my not-so-best grades (for my parents, it's 6-7) to my parents so they would still be satisfied. And i almoust can uderstand when someone is lieing to me. And i do have that sense of sensing that someone's up to no good like Chief described.

like what clvezlys said i do have control of my dreams...but i cant read minds.... like whan i was little i was dreaming i was walking at my home town and suddenly like 5 of my friends start running up to me with stupid questions.......so i want like : OMG this dream sucks! wakeing up.........NOW! ....and i woke up.. but not like opend my eyes...i mean like set up awake in my bed not tired at all....and i was like: WOW that was cooll...lol

since then i know that i am dreaming allmost all the time..and whan i want to change something i can but not all the way...
i mean i can change things but mostly little things....if i change the hole dream like were i am, what is happening the dream finds a way for it to change back..i dont know its to weird to me...

and what is the meaning of "de-ja-vu"?
some1 told me once that it happends because i was doing that same action that i have done some time ago...
but that cant be right because de ja vu happend to me one time whan i was somewere i have never been before and with people i have never met before..........so what is "de-ja-vu"

Impresive...Someone actually read all that.

As i've said, while i'm dreaming i suddenly remember that i'm dreaming, and after a few seconds my "nightmare avoidance system wakes me up". I'm now thinking how to shut it off. And i'm making some progress at this.

An ability, aquired in 5 minutes is taking really too long to loose it.

All this talk of your mind time travelling and sixth sense is boll*x, Quite often you do/think somthing that you feel you have done before when you havent, this is what dejavu is, it is when an experience that you have in the present, is stored in the wrong part of the brain, i.e. the part memorys are stored in. So it fools your brain into thinking you have done/thaught this experience before.

This is going to be one helluva long message, but if you would like to learn how, I suggest you read. I also suggest that this topic is moved to the off-topic thread.

I am going to give you some idea of how to use your subconcious.

1. On others
This is one of the hardest. To use your subconcious mind to influence others into doing or feeling things, your minds have to be in deep rapport. So, start out talking to the person/persons. There are alot of easy ways to get into rapport. The first and by hundreds of kilometers the most important, IS KEEP YOUR VIBE POSITIVE!!!!! If you walk up to the person you want to covertly hypnotize, you cant be thinking "ha ha I'm messing with your mind". Their subconcious will pick that up in an instant. You will probably hear something like "what are you up to?" Instead, think something like "isnt it great to talk to me?" 9 out of 10 times that will help rapport. The deeper your rapport, the more effect your subconcious will be when it comes time. Another way is to keep eye contact. Dont fidget. If they can always see your eyes they will trust you more, and you need trust for this stuff to work. You also want them to be talking 95% of the time. NEXUS WHAT I AM ABOUT TO SAY IS MILLION DOLLAR BUSINESS ADVICE!!!!! If they are talking 95% of the time, they will feel in control, important, and respected. The other 5% is questions you should be asking them. So say you sit down and you are trying to cut a milti million dollar business deal. You might start out by saying "oh I read about you in the new york times, how you saved that little cat from up in that big tall tree, tell me about it!" BLAM! They will talk to you about it and you will be in immediate rapport with them. Now here comes the actual hypnotic formula. Here it is people!:
Careful set of words + sneak phrase + command = action.
You want to lead your subjects mind towards what you want them to do or feel. So, say you want to make someone feel good or happy. Talk to them about feeling happy. Say to them "isnt being happy great!? there are so many things that can make you feel happy, your family, getting a raise, etc" and go on like that until rapport comes along. Here comes the tricky part: The sneak phrase. A sneak phrase is what you use to speak directly to someones unconcious mind instead of their brain. Yes they will pick it up, but they wont realize what it actually is. Thats simple, but tricky to use. One of the most powerful sneak phrases is "If you were to". So. Here we go. If you were to feel really good, right now, would you like it? Now that might not work on paper while you are reading it, but if you heard it on the telephone, you would feel like a million bucks right now.
Now it gets more technical, but if you want it to work, then read on.
When using covert hypnosis and your subconcious mind on other people, two other things are incredibly important and nessecary: Tonality and inflexion. Ill keep this short sweet and to the point: You have t o speak in a deep and resonant voice (not a certain tone, just lower than usual by a tiny bit). That will tell their subconcious to listen up. You want to end in a downward inflexion. OK THATS A LITTLE BACKGROUND ON COVERT HYPNOSIS TO USE ON OTHERS.

2. Self hypnosis.
This is an IMMENSE subject, so the part I will adress is dream control.
So, first we have to learn the basics of how to hypnotize yourself. Start by sitting comfortably somewhere, maybe lying down, whatever as long as your comfortable. Close your eyes. Count backwards from ten slowly, efter each number, relax just a little bit more. When you are at zero, you will be in a light form of self hypnosis. Now, think back to your worst dream ever. Think about it as hard as you can, try to remember what you saw, felt, tasted, heard, and smelled. Keep going until you almost have it perfectly. Now here comes the hard part, timing is crucial. Think about what you want to dream about that night, get the five senses down as quickly as you can. When you finish (this should be done in about five seconds) put your thumb and fourth finget together. Now concentrate on what you just though up. The good dream, as hard as you can. Get all of the five senses concentrating on it. Now count up from zero to ten. one, two - reganing conciousness - three, four - waking up - five, six - almost there - seven, eight, nine - back to the surface - ten. Open your eyes. Now tonight when you dream, as hard as you can, try to put you thumb and fourth finger together while you dream. If you did it correctly, your dream should shift to what you want, and at that point you are in complete control.

I hope this helped, it sure as hell took me long enough to type.
Now that you have learned it, go out and try it! Be sure to post your experiences!
Good sneak Phrases:

If you were to (action)
I invite you to notice (realize, come to notice) how (something) can make you (action)
How might you (action)

-Brandon

CounterStrikeSource, nice links...

Chief, when i think of it, my way of getting rid of nightmares was developed kinda the same way as self hypnosis.

I'm gonna try self hypnosis tonight...

If you're getting into this, here's something interesting, I had a dream, quite a while back, and forgot it, a week or so ago I was playing football (uh.... handball for you in other countries, NOT SOCCER! Razz) I got tackled and was slammed onto my back, in the procces of getting up I saw the paintball shack (this was at a camp by the way) WHAM the dream hit me, which, just happened to be exactly what I was seeing and feeling at that exact moment, quite errie I assure you, worst case of DEJAVU I've ever had (I seem to experience it often... maybe I'm just a skitzo, oh well, no new friends yet!) the oddest thing was distinctly knowing I've felt and seen that exact scene before, oh well... I usually put the same answer down as a few other people at my class anyways...

I think its because the signal from your eye to your brain is received but not immediately processed. There is a split second delay kinda like a buffer with information....your brain knows its there and kinda makes some sense of it....its not until a split second later the brain fully recieves it and makes/creates the full picture of what you see....so in a way its like a double take of what you looked at so to speak...or thats what you think!!!!

God that was complicated to describe..... Confused

This isn't really about a dream, not exactly anyway, but sometimes when I lay down to go to sleep, after a few minutes it feels like im flipped upside down and traveling very fast, like im falling, and then a sensation of being sucked through a small hole head first. And then I will wake up and kind of jump forward as if I'm trying to counteract the feeling. The whole flipped/falling/jumping forward all happen within a second it seems. Has anyone else experienced this? I asked some of my friends awhile back and one of them said he had.

yes!!
i've had that similar dream lots of times
but it was in nightmare mode

a big room filled with pink pipes that lead to obviously somewhere
then i am sucked head first into the pipes that are obviously impossible to fit a coin down, they form fit me (sorta like vaccum paking) and i end up getting pushed along this weird system of pink pipes through capillary action of the pipes themselves...strange huh?
Like all methods to end bad dreams, i took a deep breath and find i am in darkness (same situation as first few posts) and wake up all sweaty.

i've discovered that you have bad dreams when u sleep chest down. In this sleeping position, your breathing becomes restricted and your heart starts to react to the situation of lowered oxygen levels. (and probably from breathing dusty air from your pillow as well) That is why when u take a deep breath to relax and/or end the dream, you are actually letting yourself more oxygen and therefore you wake up.
Most people have bad dreams when their sleeping with their chest down. If you have younger siblings or kids of your own, take notice of this chest-down-bad-dream theory.

On lucid dreaming, i too have taught myself to lucid dream. It is an absolutely amazing feeling of freedom to be able to do anything you want, whenever i want without any downsides or consequences. It's even better than day dreaming
! After i taught myself lucid dreaming, i've never had a bad dream from then on.
As described similarly so very colourfully by stymfalm, i dreamt once that i was fighting Superman and i went Super Mario style on him with his cape. Same with Batman.

On the case of mind reading/finishing other pplz sentences, i find i can actually do that quite well due to the negative feedback i get from teachers and friends. Everyone gets really annoyed at me because i finish their sentences and i do that quite frequently. I think finishing sentences isn't really mind reading or anything but its a case of understanding the steyotype of the person and selecting what words would best describe their steyotypical attitude/grammar/communicative responses. Finished off the physics teachers sentences the other day...he got really pissed off.

If finishing sentences is really a mind reading related thing, that must mean i can definently read minds.

Cheers

I remember reading somewhere that you have a greater chance of getting a heart attack when sleeping on your back than on your chest.
btw, i mainly sleep on my chest and i only get *cough* "cool" *cough* dreams, lol
