I have the option to purchase a blue laser. I was in the market for a high-power green (~125 mW), but I'm intrigued by the blue (lab) laser.

What would you choose, and why? A 10/40mW blue, or a ~125 green?

What color do you like better Question The green will be highly visible and be able to burn stuff. The blue will not be as visible and will not burn good.....but ohhh it is very pretty and you'll probably be the only one you know with one Laughing

Yep, as a first high=power laser the greenie might serve you better. I have quite a few >100mW greenies at this point though, and given the choice I'd pick the blue anyday.

Not burn good? I thought you said your argon burned really well. I'd think that blue would burn similar to green, depending of course on what you are trying to burn.

Agreed, but I think chargerman was referring to the fact that on the same budget, you can get a lot more green mW than blue mW - not that equivalent mWs will be so different.

Green's more economical. And apparently they are lighter. So for me, I think they are better. Although this is talking from a green laser user Razz

I'm going to have to go with these guys on this one. A green will definitely get you more for your money. I would save the blue laser purchase for after you have yourself a good performing, high-powered greenie. Let the blue be the icing on your cake when you can swing the high price tag.

The original Blue Spyder MK1 which I photographed last year before it was called back to Wicked.

I was mesmerized by the color and so was everyone else. But the same output in green seemed 3X brighter to us all. I know there's a lot of laserists waiting for the prices to drop and China and Korea are making some spectacular breakthroughs with mass production for the Nightclub and DJ lasers.

Personally, I'd love to play with a Blue again for photographic purposes. It photographs better in my opinion because the Blue isn't blowing out the exposure as much as green does.

*I'm also sitting on my hands right now waiting to see what may become available in the near future.

I'd go for the green just because of the power. Plus, green is an awesome color (my favorite, in fact, so I'm biased Razz ). I think you'd have more fun with the extra power over just a different color.

The blue light does photograph much better than the Green. They also look better on video I think. I can't wait till they come down in price. Either way I seem to loose them to fast so I have to wait till they are cheaper.
