steve just told me that the 3rd generation spyders with new focusing lenses are shipping in about 2 weeks and the 4th generation spyders with improved switches are shipping in about 4 weeks.

I feel bad for all the people who sent in defective spyders and have to play the waiting game.. I guess it's worth it though. I'm sure all these people appreciate the topic.

This waiting is torture. I'm ready for my Spyder. Does anyone know when they are due to ship out?

If the 3rd and 4th generation Spyders are being shipped a few weeks apart, why not just wait for the 4th?

My guess is there are a decent number of orders coming in and they can update the lens soon but the switch will take time to implament so you might as well give out the better models once you get them, no sence not sending out updated ones just because you will improve new models in a few weeks.
If you're asking why don't consumers just wait to buy the 4th gen? They should.

I strongly urge wicked to use the 2W IR diode in the 5th+ generation spyders.

Imagine the power those suckers would produce when combined with WLs ultra rare crystals.

Plus, they could keep up with WickedLasers's Hercules in a much smaller (and way more awesome) size.

True, but then you will have a heat issue with a bigger diode, and there goes the duty cycle, as well as the small size.

I sure hope they ship out this week. I think about it everyday. If only there were some way to fall asleep for a week. Then when I woke up it would only seem like it had been a few minutes and I would have my spyder.
