57. Holography, Observing Holograms - In a darkened room, expand a laser beam with a diverging lens. Hold a hologram is the laser beam path and allow the laser light to enter your eyes. Search for the holographic image within an angle of 20-40 degrees to the right or left of the laser but DO NOT stare directly into the laser.
This one is amasing. I study physics and this semester we have optics. The lecturer showed us a few shards of what once used to be a glass sheet. They looked just like normal glass. Then he turned on a green laser with a diverging lens and if you looked just from the right angle (which was somewhat not easy to find) you could see the whole incredible holographic image in any one of the shards! |

| Nice thread man, I've been looking for something like this. I was wondering what I was going to do with it once I lit a match and popped a balloon. |

you can take bat's blood with panda urine into a Russian crystal bowl and get a nice flash in your eyes as well.!
*sarcasm about the materials used in those experiments* |

| Can we all take one experiment each and post the pictures LOL. It would take me a month just to read them all , never mind try them. It still gets me why sometimes i shine the green laser on red objects and it appears green, yet some objects it appears as a yellow or orange dot. Must be something to do with the absorption of some plastics compared to others |

Here's over 100 experiments you can do with a laser. Great for anyone looking for something to do other then popping balloons and lighting matches etc.
1. Scattering Beam Visibility in Air - Shake chalk dust in the laser beam path. The beam is in visible in a dust free room but the particles scatter the light enabling us to "see" it. This demonstration is most effective in a completely darkened room. Although chalk dust is very effective, it can harm computers and other electronic apparatus in a science classroom. You can substitute most aerosol sprays and fog from cold-mist humidifiers. But avoid hair spray and similar materials that can clog the lungs.

Couldn't the chalk dust harm your lense? _________________ Peace Blom |
